The Universal Glow

There are very few materials I reach for as instinctively as pearls.

Part of it is simple: I genuinely don’t think anyone looks bad in pearls. Their lustre flatters every skin tone. They soften sharp styles, elevate minimal ones, and somehow adapt to whoever is wearing them. I’ve never seen pearls look “off” on anyone.

But my love for pearls goes much deeper than appearance.

A Jewel of Renewal

Pearl has long been connected to energy renewal. Unlike many gemstones that are mined from the earth, pearls are formed within a living being — slowly, layer by layer, in response to irritation. There’s something poetic in that.

Energetically, pearl is believed to open the chakras and support the upward movement of kundalini energy — the life force that rests at the base of the spine and rises toward the crown.

This isn’t about dramatic awakening or intensity for me. It’s about gentle activation. A soft remembering.

Understanding Kundalini Energy

Kundalini is often described as a coiled energy at the root chakra. When awakened and balanced, it rises through the spine, activating each chakra in turn — root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, crown.

When I design with gemstones, I’m always thinking about this flow.

How does a stone support grounding? How does it encourage openness?Where does it soothe?Where does it stimulate?

Pearls feel like a safe companion in this process. They encourage movement, but with calm.

The Protection of Black Pearl

Black pearls hold a special place for me.

The darker tone carries a deeply protective quality. It anchors earth energy, helping to stabilise the rise of kundalini energy from root to crown.

It’s expansion without overwhelm.Awakening without losing your footing.

There’s power in that balance.

Why I Use Pearls So Often

Pearls embody something I care deeply about in my jewellery:

✨ Energy that moves but doesn’t destabilise.

✨ Luminosity without harshness.

✨ Protection wrapped in elegance.

They are subtle but powerful. Soft but steady. Protective yet luminous.

And perhaps that’s why I return to them again and again — because they reflect the kind of energy I want my jewellery to carry.

I’d love to know — do pearls feel classic to you, protective, powerful… or something else entirely?
